Programmable Thermostats Save Money
You can save around 10% a year on your heating and cooling bills by turning your thermostat back 10°–15° for at least eight hours. You can do this by setting your temperature several degrees warmer in the summer and several degrees cooler in the winter while you are away or at work.
Turning the thermostat way up or way down will not heat or cool an area faster. Typically a home can only be changed by 2 degrees an hour. So, setting the temperature significantly higher or lower will only exhaust your heating and air conditioning system while using up substantial money and energy.
It is recommended to keep your house at 78° when you are home and 85° when you are away during the warmer months.
